My first image/ text book, part travelogue, part ethnographic investigation of my sense of feeling at home in the semi desertic landscape and arab culture of Oman, in the process revisiting Portugal's past of extreme imperial violence. It's also a book about desire, about single women who travel alone and the ethics of using the image as currency in exchanges with the Other fraught with tension - the exotic Other; the colonized Other; the male Other.

The images were made in the course of several trips to Oman, including shorter trips to the United Arab Emirates. With special thanks to Marta Alves de Oliveira, and also César Diaz Cano and Fahad Al-Kindi.
